New Louis Vuitton?
Drake is becoming a very popular name in the hip-hop community. He is the face of a new generation who becomes immensely successful before releasing a single album. His image also combines high fashion and steetwear
Last night at BET's Music Awards, most of the night was filled with tributes to Micheal Jackson. Several musicians wore red jackets and one glove in homage to the the passing of Micheal Jackson. But despite the attention given to the King of Pop, the finale was a performance by the up-and-coming rapper Drake. Because of a torn ACL, he sat down during his performance and was adorned in a red COMME des GARCONS cardigan from the PLAY collection that was released last spring. Drake was first shown wearing the black edition of the cardigan in April, but his exposure at the award show has definitely increased his connection to the brand. The collection is identified by a tiny red heart with eyes on the chest of every piece. The idea of wearing a heart on your chest was popularized when Kanye West began wearing Dee & Ricky's Lego heart brooches of hearts.
Since Kanye West came into the mainstream, he was known for his interest in the Louis Vuitton fashion line. Since his start, he has released his own sneaker collection with Louis Vuitton. Since Drake is a new, attractive and fashionable rapper, he might make COMME des GARCONS the next big trend in hip-hop. Historically brands like Supra have become popular after they have been worn at award shows.

Word of the Day
Young people in dance parties across American have been wobbling and moving to a new style of electronic music called dubstep. It is a combination of UK 2step garage, grime and dub. This genre was created in early 2000s and it is recognized by its heavy use of bass. Notable artists who popularized the sound are Diplo, Crookers, Bar 9, Skream and High Rankin. Currently in America, dubstep is mostly known by electro and house music fans, but the elements of drum and bass has made it likable for hip-hop fans as well.
In late May, Mad Decent coined a new genre called Dubblestep. Mad Decent is Diplo's Philadelphia based music label, which has worked with and signed many of the most revolutionary underground artists that make dance music.

Jean Leggings

skinny jeans + Leggings
Since the beginning of 2009, fashion blogs around the world have been critiquing the new trend that is planned to be the new form of legwear for young people. In the mid 2000s, more and more women began to shed there pants and wear leggings. Over the last few years pants have gotten tighter and made an easier transition for leggings to be acceptable. As technology progresses, fashion does the same. The invention of jean leggings has allowed people to have the look of leggings while they also get the comfort of leggings with a fit that was usually acquired by a select few jean brand. The term 'jeggings' is a combination of the words jeans and leggings, and it is also replaced in the UK or Australia with the word 'treggings' becasue the word 'trousers' is more commonly used. In America, the new style is commonly called 'jean leggings', but a name change is in the foreseeable future. The trend first gained notice when it was first sold in Britain at Top Shop and ASOS . Now in America the style can be seen along with other interesting styles of leggings at American Apparel to the thrift mall chain Charlotte Russe. Even though jean leggings is in a well known concept in America, the fact that it is sold widespread proved that it is forecast to be popular this summer.

I know we make light of me never getting sleep and overworking. But I'll say that he didn't go in vain. I will do my best to slow down as to not overwork myself to the point in which I can't even enjoy life anymore. I am devastated over this but we all have memories. I just hope that he will get due justice in all the press memorials and whatnot. I know he was mired in controversy the last decade of his life but I think it's time we let him rest in peace and learn to separate the ART and the ARTIST. That is the MJ I will forever remember. Elvis got revisionist media treatment. I expect the friggin same for my hero.

Errbody In The Club is Autotuning
The Vampire Weekend's Rostam Batmanglij and The Ra Ra Riot's Wes Miles teamed up to form a group called Discovery.
They show all the benefits of using autotune and add a R&B soulful edge with their harmonies. Discovery's music is a great contrast to the indie music that was prevalent a few years ago that was primarily slow and moody. If you could imagine a combination of K-Ci & JoJo, Chromeo and Vampire Weekend's afrobeat flair, you can probably get a good picture of Discovery's sound. This group definitely has the stuff to earn the same summer hype as indie bands like Phoenix, Passion Pit and Grizzly Bear.
Their first LP, called LP will be on XL Recordings and will be released on July 7th.

Kid Cudi and The Pappers At Nite
As of now it is not planned on being on his debut album, Man on the Moon: The End of Day, which will be released on August 25th. The song however was on his mixtape, A Kid Named Cudi. The song 'Heaven at Nite' uses the beat from Ratatat's 'Tacobel Canon'. Despite the brief release of 'Heaven at Nite', Kid Cudi's next single will be 'Make Her Say'. Kid Cudi fans were introduced to the song 'Poke Her Face' which features Kanye West and Common, and samples Lady Gaga's 'Poke Her Face' this past April. 'Make Her Say' is the same song as 'Poke Her Face', but had the name was changed to make it more pleasing for radio listeners. Kid Cudi's third single will be 'Sky Might Fall' and it is featured on his mixtape, Dat Kid From Cleveland, along with 'Make Her Say'.

Kid Cudi is officially a celebrity now, the papperazi are following him now, its not TMZ, but it's something. Apparently he parties with Apple from Black Eyed Peas (the guy with the mohawk), he only has nice words to say about Kanye, and he wants his own cartoon.
How To Make It As A Spacefish In America?

pretentious music elitst
However, I am unhappy when an artist is featured in a commercial or tv show and people really like the song, but refuse to make any effort to listen to any of their other songs. I cannot count the number of times I have had to quote a lyric of a song, because a person did not know actual the name of the artist or at least the name of the song. Many bands and singers have been performing for many years and have had a least a decent following before their exposure in an ad. Nowadays, there is a issue if fame is equivalent to having your single known by your mom, little sister and friend, or if success is truly achieved when you have a loyal fan base. Once again, I do not think everyone should attempt to be an music aficionado, but people should think before they claim an artist or band is their favorite, without knowing the basal information about them.
That means:
Kid Cudi is NOT your favorite hip-hop artist if you only know 'Day n Nite'
You do NOT listen to "techno" because you know the song 'One More Time' by Daft Punk
You are NOT an old school hip-hop head because you own a DMC shirt
You do NOT listen to "everything" because you like Fall Out Boy and Nirvana
You did NOT listen to that artist first, unless you own their independent released material
Overall, we are all posers to some degree, but we also feel like we are an expert when it come to certain things. Don't feel entitled to jump onto every trend you hear about or claim that you like something, just because your peers are into it.
Feel free to be the lame, the cool kid, the nonconformist, and the maven.

The Hova, The Collabs, and The Mr. Do-It-Alls
The man who is commonly claimed to be one of the greatest rappers alive has released the first single for his upcoming album, The Blueprint³ . This will be his eleventh studio and it will be released on September 11, which is the same date of the release of the first album of the Blueprint chronicles. The new album will contain the charttopping singles Swagga Like Us and Brooklyn Go Hard. Kanye West will help produce The Blueprint³ and has said it will sound like 808s and Heartbreaks, but no autotune will be on Jay-Z's album. This was made very apparent on Jay-Z's first single Dead, which was released on Hot 97 this past Friday. In the song he attacks the prevalence of autotune in rap songs as well as "ringtone rappers", rappers who sing, tight jeans, and colored jeans. After such a song that calls out a lot of the changes in the hip-hop industry, I am unsure if he he is asking Lil Wayne and Young Jeezy to be on the remix of this song or if he is suggesting that they should change their behavior. I also was confused that Jay-Z confronted autotune and skinny jeans, which are two of Kanye West's trademarks, even though Kanye produced this song.
Has Jay-Z made a song that will be appreciated by the hood and suburbia?
Has Jay-Z changed since the first Blueprint album?
Is autotune an actual problem in hip-hop music?
Does skinny jeans affect your credibility as a rapper or are skills the only factor?
